- In the early part of his career, many proclaimed Alagna as the “4th Tenor,” claiming that he is the air apparent to Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carerras.

- La Scala debut in La Traviata in 1990.
- Covent Garden and Metropolitan Opera debut as Rodolfo in La bohème in 1992.
- Roberto Alagna opened the 2006-07 season at La Scala in the new production director Franco Zeffirelli’s new production of Aida. During the second performance (Dec. 10, 2006), Alagna, was booed and whistled at by a group from the audience, resulting his walking off the stage, mid-performance. Mr. Alagna’s reaction was seen as completely unprofessional.
